Eternal Harvest - Garden Screens That Survive Summer Heat

Privacy doesn’t need to come from hard fences alone.

Curved gravel path through manicured garden with lush green bushes and topiary trees. Sunlit, tranquil atmosphere. Stone wall backdrop.
A winding garden path, beautifully framed by meticulously trimmed hedges and lush greenery, creates a serene and inviting landscape.

In Australian gardens, living screens can cool spaces while softening harsh boundaries.

Plants like lilly pilly, westringia, and murraya cope well with summer heat when established properly.

Vibrant red and orange leaves of the Lilly Pilly grow among lush green foliage. The background features a blurred, striped fence, creating a fresh, lively scene.
Plants like Lilly Pilly (picture from Bunnings), Westringia, and Murraya are popular choices for Australian gardens and are widely available at Bunnings.

They respond to pruning and create movement, shade, and habitat for birds.

Summer tip: Water deeply but less often. Shallow watering encourages weak roots that struggle in heat.

While creating Eternal Harvest, I’ve found the Bunnings DIY guides helpful while learning about Australian plants and garden screening. They offer clear, practical overviews for beginners.

In next week’s post, I’ll share what I’m learning about simple herbs that may help reduce flies and mosquitoes, and how I’m using them around the house and garden.
